WORKING WITH MEN
Find your courage and bring it.
I’ll meet it with compassion and non judgement.
Dear Men. How are you?
If you can honestly say that things are pretty good or better – great.
I have a sense though that there are many of you who are struggling and that is so very understandable. I see you.
You’re feeling lost, defeated and lonely. Inside you’re broken and helpless and that all you can do is just try and continue on, taking one step in front of another.
Your days are a repeat of the one before, you numb out, scroll and drink. You smile and nod to avoid being noticed for what might be really going on.
You feel like there’s nothing you can do – you don’t know how to deal with the weight of what you carry inside – the loss, the shame, the anger, the embarrassment.
Or maybe, you have things you want to say and do about the way things are, but you feel scared and you’re fearful.
Believe it or not, there is a goodness in you that is yours to give the world. Things do not have to stay this way. Even more so, life is generative – it’s not out to get you. It is given to you for you to continually learn and to grow, not to remain stuck and limited by your experience.
Is this what you signed up for? Is this the life you want? And in response you might say, ‘What’s the point of trying? It’s all too hard? No-one respects me – I don’t even respect myself.’ I say, ‘you were made for love and for so much more than this.’
You might say, ‘I’m nothing but a lazy piece of $34#& . I say, ‘not true – you might be making choices that are lazy, but that’s not all you are. You are so much more’.
You might say, ‘there’s nothing I can do about it? I say, ‘new things will emerge when you face what’s real with support’
Question then – What do you want from life?
read moreWe need men to be honest and caring, strong and dependable. We need men to be able to love well and to allow themselves to be loved well.
Something is not right AND you are choosing to face it rather than run away, because you want things to change, even though you don’t really know how and you are scared.
THAT’S WHERE I COME IN!
Through sheer courage, you’re choosing to stop, take responsibility and attend to what’s real. You will most likely feel uneasy (maybe afraid, uncertain). Being with these uncomfortable feelings – accepting them, noticing them, trying not to judge them and give them value is a part of the movement towards reconnecting to who you are. I can be with you in an open, non-judgemental and real way.
Getting to know you, not what others want or need. Hearing and understanding your story – what you carry and who you really are. Honestly taking responsibility for your life and sorting out what’s yours to carry and what’s not.
Getting to know the soft and hard edges, the pain and what might be possible. Not leaving any stone unturned and moving closer to understand what you want to do with ‘your one wild and precious life’.
You will have re-connected with the heart and soul of who you are, accounted for the truth of what you have lived and have started to sense and dedicate yourself towards a more meaningful way of living. You will have equipped yourself with a range of skills and practices that will be the impetus for your new direction.
Understandably this takes time. But the alternative is to continue on the same path you’re on now and nothing will change.
